THE CLIFTON PAVILION - THE PERFECT VENUE!

When we started the fair, Katie and I talked for days about the 'perfect' venue for the fair.  And, of course, by that we meant the perfect wedding venue!  We had no idea that we would actually find it and continue to hold our fair there every year!  But that's how we feel about the Clifton Pavilion

Our exhibitors always say "it's the BEST venue" and we can't believe just how lucky we are. The rooms are beautifully proportioned, the light is amazing and really, this venue has everything you could want.  For a start, the Clifton Pavilion has a licence to perform wedding ceremonies and civil partnerships  so you can hold your ceremony here as well as celebrate afterwards.

The elegant rooms are gorgeous, with sumptuous gold flock wallpaper in the Clifton Suite and the famous leopard print carpet leading into it, as well as glorious views over the zoo. Amazing chandeliers light up the room and yet it somehow feels personal and intimate!  The garden room is incredibly light and airy and you have the unique added bonus of being able to have your photographs taken in the zoo gardens!  Take a look at some of the fabulous reviews on Hitched from couples who have had their big day here.

The venue is run by Bristol Zoo Gardens Hospitality who take pride in supplying excellent menu options utilising fresh, locally sourced sustainable and ethical ingredients, coupled with friendly professional staff.  

By holding your wedding at the Clifton Pavilion you are helping the great work of Bristol Zoo Gardens as a proportion of your wedding fee goes to the zoo assisting with conservation projects - both in the UK and overseas.  You can take pride in the fact your wedding will have an ethical aspect!

Exciting news is that the Zoo we have recently opened The Lodge, a two bedroom accommodation within the grounds.  They have put together an overnight stay package for bride & bridesmaids the night prior to the wedding and for the bride & groom on their wedding night.  

The Clifton Pavilion will be serving refreshments on the day, so take a few minutes to sit back and relax whilst you're there.  We're so looking forward to another year at this wonderful venue and we can't wait to share it with you!

Thrifty Style by Janine Chisholm

If you visited our Bristol Vintage Wedding Fair earlier this year, you might have met Janine Chisholm of Custard House Clothing.  Janine was at the top of the stairs of our gorgeous Clifton Pavilion venue, along with some beautiful vintage clothes she'd designed herself and some she'd upscaled or accessorised. 

Janine's long been a friend of Bristol Vintage.  She used to have a shop in St Nick's Market and she's been demonstrating and selling her gorgeous vintage clothes at Tobacco Factory Market for some time. She runs sewing workshops, gives talks and demos and is now an Eco Designer, vintage Stylist and Personal Shopper.  Janine's passion is about transforming your wardrobe to make it work for you and, to add another string to her accomplished bow, she's written a book to help you do it yourself!

Thrifty Style by Janine Chisholm is a gorgeous book both for the novice or experienced seamstress.  It'll teach you how to sew and offers 35 sample projects with full and easy to understand instructions on how to rework your wardrobe.  With three patterns included in the back sleeve, you'll be inspired to tackle those clothes that have been sitting in the back of the wardrobe.  You know... those ones you haven't worn for over a year!

Pedal Power Transport

On the day of the fair there’ll be a handsome man dressed in top hat and tails standing next to a beautifully decorated rickshaw.  Meet Sam Harris, owner of Pedal Power Transport.  He’s the man to talk to about how to get yourself and your guests from the wedding ceremony to the reception using one of the most environmental and sustainable ways possible!

Pedal Power Transport is a friendly, green alternative to transport in the city of Bristol.   They transport an array of important things already and are now offering some brilliant wedding, hen and stag party packages.  It’s a taxi service with a difference.  Their pedal power rickshaws have zero emissions and they’re here to cut congestion, pollution and carbon from the streets of our beloved Bristol to help make it a nicer place for us all and offer you something that little bit  different for your wedding.  On the day of the fair Sam’s rickshaw will come bedecked with ribbons, but for your hen night or wedding you can go wild with flowers and vintage inspiration, using any eco products you like to decorate the cab.
