BRISTOL VINTAGE - THE END OF AN ERA!

I have momentous news!

Following my post of a couple of months ago announcing the sale of the business, Bristol Vintage is now under new ownership.

I have so many happy memories of the last few years - from the very early days when Bristol Vintage was just an idea that Katie and I shared, to our launch event - Katie's wonderful wedding; collaborating with Aunties Vintage on the Clifton Hill Costume and Textiles launch; happy hours spent searching for the most beautiful crockery and props, and some of our truly wonderful brides and grooms, as well as fabulous birthday parties, hen parties and even some very beautiful wakes.  Not forgetting our very own Bristol Vintage Wedding Fair (more of which later).

I've met some amazing people - clients and other people in the wedding industry - many of whom will be friends for life and I want to say thank you to them all for making the last 8 years such fun!

Watch out for our next post where Zoe Fletcher, the new owner of Bristol Vintage, will say hello.  I'm so excited to see where Zoe takes the company and wish her all the luck in the world and hope she has as much fun as we have!

Here are a few of my favourite memories!

BRISTOL VINTAGE CROCKERY & PROP HIRE

Without blowing our own trumpet we thought we ought to tell you a little bit about ourselves!

Bristol Vintage was started by Ali & Katie nearly six years ago and in that time we've supplied crockery and afternoon tea services for scores of weddings, hen parties, baby showers and anniversary parties.

We adore all things vintage, particularly beautiful china, cutlery & props and we lovingly collect every piece ourselves.

Katie now runs her own company The Dandy Cabin while Ali has Bristol Vintage, but they still meet regularly over tea & cake to sort out the worlds' woes and plan their next adventure!

These days Bristol Vintage can supply afternoon tea crockery for up to 320 people, dinner crockery for up to 180 and lots of gorgeous props, like Mabel, Rose & Albert, our vintage bikes; vintage gramophones & records, cameras, books, our vintage sledge, picnic baskets, vintage throws - and can source other vintage items you might need.

Ali also sells one-off pieces of vintage ephemera and kitchenalia at one of our favourite places, Cox & Baloney's Vintage Boutique, where you can have a great cup of tea & cake on vintage china whilst shopping for all things vintage!

We really hope you'll love the fair - we do and we love meeting you and helping you with your wedding!

Mauretania Bar & Lounge

Mauretania Bar & Lounge is one of Bristol's best kept secrets and we at Bristol Vintage think she's a stunning, totally unique and sophisticated choice for a wedding venue. With its rich and fascinating history, the Mauretania is perfect for you lovers of vintage.

Hidden inside the beautiful and historic building are plenty of art deco features.... think chandeliers, opulent wood-panelled walls and ornate plasterwork. These art deco interiors originate from the world famous RMS Mauretania Ocean liner, built in 1906 and the biggest, fastest and most opulent ship of her time.

Creating bespoke packages to suit your particular event whether it's your upcoming nuptials or a sophisticated hen party, the Mauretania is a bar, cafe and club that effuses exclusivity with plenty of style. They have a variety of rooms available... The snug rooms with their hidden entrance on Park Street are perfect for receptions, whilst the spectacular Mauretania room offers a beautiful setting for wedding breakfasts. The club room is fantastic  for later festivities and features plush blue velvet seating booths, a giant glitterball and a magnificent domed ceiling, originally the centrepiece of the RMS Mauretania's library!

Want to feel like a VIP at your wedding? The team at the Mauretania can create a bespoke package perfectly tailored to your needs. They also have talented in-house chefs who'll work with you to arrange anything from elegant canapes to a lavishly indulgent three-course meal. Book the Mauretania Bar & Lounge by emailing them direct at info@mauretania-events.com and you'll be sipping one of their fantastic signature cocktails and planning your celebrations in no time.

Fosse Farmhouse

At Bristol Vintage we're always on the lookout for inspiring places that will suit the sort of vintage-style we adore and we've found a place to stay that we think you'll love too.

Fosse Farmhouse is nestled in the beautiful Cotswolds in an area of outstanding natural beauty. In fact, the nearby village of Castle Combe is just 20 minutes from Bristol and Bath and is frequently used for film locations, such is its vintage charm.

The Farmhouse sleeps up to 16 guests and is perfect whatever your accommodation budget, with pretty bed and breakfast rooms furnished with gorgeous vintage pieces, country antiques and French brocante (most of which is for sale) as well as three luxurious, contemporary self-catering cottages.

Owner and chef Caron Cooper sources the finest local ingredients to prepare delicious breakfasts and evening meals, with clotted cream teas served in the orchard throughout the summer months. You could take yours in the Garden House living room, of course, once it gets a little colder...

It's a perfectly wonderful place to host not only your vintage-style hen weekend but to have all your wedding guests stay in one place. Every room is gorgeous...

Owner Caron has experience in organising events too and will decorate to your taste with flowers, bunting and banners. She'll also ensure the bride and groom and all your relatives are looked after properly with a delicious wedding breakfast.

So if you're getting married locally, take a look at Fosse Farmhouse. Nearby Sheldon Manor is a favourite wedding venue and they send all their weddings to stay at Caron's Farmhouse. We hope you love it too...

Cox & Baloney

Nestled on Cheltenham Road in Cotham, Bristol is a boutique full to the brim of vintage-inspired gems.  With everything you could possibly need for creating a truly vintage life-style, from clothing (ladies and gents) to furniture, homewares, a dressmaker, Annie Sloan paints and of course, a gorgeous vintage-style tearoom next door – Cox & Baloney is the place to be.

For owners Amy and Joney, it doesn’t stop there – they offer vintage-style hen parties and small, bespoke weddings in their tearoom!

A hen party with Cox & Baloney begins with the very best tea and deliciously gooey homemade cakes. Did you know they have their own tea brand and blends? There’s Babycham from vintage teacups too, all served in your own private room and followed by a workshop of your choice. You could try your hand at making knickers, nipple tassels, hair fascinators, tutus or having a vintage Hollywood-style hair and make-up lesson or even a naked butler! They’ll organise everything you need and make sure you have a wonderful time. You can even let your hair down and try on as many vintage outfits as your heart desires. Of course, if you need a little assistance, they'll be around to help you achieve exactly the right look.

Come and meet the Cox & Baloney team at our next Fair.  They’ll be on hand to answer all your questions and will have a number of vintage-inspired treasures to show you - everything they stock has been lovingly hand-picked and is either original vintage, designer or limited edition.

You can find Cox & Baloney on Facebook and Twitter as well as in store, so if you’re planning a hen party with a vintage twist or a small, bespoke wedding – they’re the ones to call.
