IVORY FLOWERS

I'm so lucky this year as the wonderful Xanthe from  Ivory Flowers is kindly supplying the flowers for my Bristol Vintage table.  

I've been fortunate enough to have been bought some of Xanthe's beautiful bouquets by my husband and I've always loved her flowers so I was really excited to work with her on a friend's wedding last year.  The flowers were just perfect and while we chatted she told me Ivory Flowers love doing natural, textured and scented bouquets, incorporating family traditions, which appeal to all the senses.  Her favourite part of the job is working with couples and in your free wedding consultation will help inspire you with unique and seasonal ideas. 

Heavily inspired by the changing seasons, where possible Ivory flowers use locally grown flowers to make beautiful, loose and natural arrangements created specially for you.  Often, softly scented and complimented by gorgeous foliage and herbs, they bring the English country garden to the table!

Creating bouquets ranging from full and wild, vintage style, loose hand picked to tight perfect designs and everything in between, Ivory Flowers also create individual buttonholes, corsages and headdresses to suit each bride's wishes.

A qualified florist of 10 years, Xanthe now runs Ivory Flowers from a gorgeous shop in Southville with a wonderful team of floral fanatics!  Come and see her beautiful work on Sunday to be impressed!

Babes in the Woods

Glamping is where it’s at for alternative hen do’s these days and Devon-based company, Babes in the Woods offer a fabulous and totally new concept that will appeal to the more discerning bride to be – champagne and a touch of the wild!

When you go wild with Babes in the Woods, you’ll learn how to make something seasonal to take home.  This is a great idea for wedding favours – you learn how to make your own little pots of wild garlic pesto, hedgerow lip balm or hedgerow jam and can then create your own favours for your wedding day.

Babes in the Woods have branched out with a new woodland hen weekend Malvern location for 2013 – think Californian domed tents, champagne and wild swimming. Groups of 8 and 20 can stay in the domed bedrooms with comfy camp beds and a wood lounging area with wood burning stove. Activities include the chance to learn bushcraft skills such as fire and shelter building, ‘wild walks’ of the area, chill out time in front of a roaring fire and even the opportunity for some proper girlie pampering. For brave hens there’s even the chance to sleep out in the wild under a handcrafted shelter.

On the practical side of things this new location means that it’s easily accessible to hens and their friends travelling from Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, London and Bristol, with the nearest train station Gloucester just 20 minutes away.

With Babes in the Woods, everything is organised so all you have to think about is enjoying yourselves. The California Domes are set up ready for you, meals of local produce are prepared and served to you around a banquet table in your woodland grove and in the morning a ‘breakfast buttie’ can be brought to you in bed as well as a cereal and fruit buffet. The bushcraft experts are on hand to help you release your inner Ray Mears! For early birds there are even optional yoga or meditation sessions which can be arranged before breakfast.

The Wilde Bunch

There is a refreshing wildness to The Wilde Bunch style.  Working with the seasons, scents and how things grow naturally and inspired by wild flora and natural fauna, I love how everything they produce is locally sourced or Fairtrade. 

Their Wedding & Event Consultation service is both friendly and free – either at your chosen venue, home or at their design studio, a very cool barn in Abbotts Leigh, which is bursting with vintage chic. They’ve transformed wedding venues from castles to barns and however grand or intimate your big day, they promise a unique tailor-made service with stunning flowers and all without that 'exclusive' price tag.  Plus they’re totally mobile across Bristol, Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset & Gloucestershire and not being shop-based, this allows them to offer an entirely exclusive personal design service at very competitive prices and to meet with brides throughout the planning stages and beyond.

Friendly and wonderfully passionate about what she does, owner Claire Nicholson has worked in floral & event design for the last 25 years.  She trained with the Royal Horticultural Society as well as with international florists in Holland and the UK, all of which reflects her dedication to the indulgent but affordable, passionate but practical, unique but accessible and oh so wild, sweet scented and beautiful designs. 

The Wilde Bunch are 'by appointment only' and we’re delighted they’ll be exhibiting at our next Bristol Vintage Wedding Fair in 2012.  They’ll be creating a wonderful featured display, which you’ll see as soon as you walk in, plus designing the handheld bouquets for the vintage dress models you’ll see walking around the venue.  Until then, do check out their website and see some more of their wonderful designs.
