I DO VINTAGE BRIDAL - BEAUTIFUL CAPES & CAPELETS

We're really excited to introduce our latest new exhibitor to the fair.  If your idea of heaven is a romantic, elegant accessory, then you'll want to visit  I Do Vintage Bridal's stand.

Adah Wellman is the creative brains behind this lovely company, making bridal capes and specialising in feature capelets, perfect for the bride and her bridesmaids.

Each capelet is handmade to order to personal specification and can incorporate vintage pieces or heirlooms to create a truly unique capelet.  They can be finished with new or vintage trims, even incorporating heirlooms, so you have your 'something old' as well as a truly unique piece.

Some brides also have capelets for their bridesmaids in a feather that compliments the theme or colour of the wedding. These make beautiful gifts for as they will love wearing them again.

HOTEL DU VIN WEDDING SHOOT

On a rainy October day last year a wonderful group of creative people joined us to collaborate on a photoshoot at one of our favourite Bristol Venues - Hotel du Vin, and I can happily report we had so much fun, resulting in these stunning photos from Matt & Joe of Always You Photography

A few months before, myself and Siobhan Thomas, joint owner of Queenie the Cocktail Caravan were wondering how we could promote our photo wall for weddings and parties and we came up with the idea of a photoshoot.  We started talking to some of our wonderful friends  about working together to showcase our talents and approached Helen at Hotel du Vin, Bristol and all was set!

If you regularly read this blog, you'll know I'm a massive fan of Lisa Keating Bridal, an independent designer whose work is handcrafted and made to measure to couture standards.  Lisa's beautiful work is featured here and it was lovely to have her with us on the day to dress the bride - she's great fun and passionate about everything she does and her attention to detail and styling is superb.

Accessories were loaned by Clare Lloyd of Vintage Button Bridal Designs.  Clare is an absolute delight to work with and loves what she does.  It was such a treat for me to visit her workshop in Frome.  I literally cannot walk past Clare's work without feeling like a kid in a sweet shop and found it so hard to choose accessories for the shoot that Clare really kindly indulged me, letting me take a whole box full!

Our friend Rashida Foy is a great make-up artist - able to create beautiful subtle bridal make-up, as she did for this shoot - as well as amazing creative work on alternative shoots.  We love her flexibility and her laid back attitude

We were so lucky to have two really incredible models for the day.  Hyder Sayed came from London for the shoot and was so professional, gave loads of input and was such an all round good guy.  Tall, dark & handsome, he was the perfect foil to Bristol based Charlotte Felski, our beautiful pale-skinned natural red-head!  Both have lots of modelling experience and we felt really spoilt to have them as part of the team!

Charlotte's stunning hair was styled by Bonominihair, a brilliant salon in Clifton who have a great reputation and a very loyal clientele.

The flowers are the creation of Laura Connelly from The Pink Peony.  Laura's lovely to work with and has the most wonderful eye for colour and shape.  Her designs literally brought everything to life, drawing the eye and completing every picture.

We hadn't worked with Matt & Joe before, but they made the day so easy.  We had a shot list which they ran with and made their own - covering everything and more with so little fuss.  I'm thrilled with the pics of my vintage crockery & props and it was great fun working with them.

Cake - Chocolate Delores Cakes

A wedding shoot wouldn't be complete without cake and WHAT cake! Chocolate Delores is queen of the chocolate wedding cake and her creations always bring a  real magic to any shoot.  She also TOTALLY spoilt us by bringing some of her hand made chocolates for us to share and her work seriously is not only some of the most beautiful but also the most delicious!

Mens Hire, Bristol, loaned us Hyder's vintage-style groom's wear.  They did a brilliant job as we had to work from measurements alone - and he looked great!

We have to thank Hotel du Vin for letting us use their fabulous venue for the day.  Hotel du Vin has been my favourite Bristol Hotel since it first opened over 16 years ago and it was the first place I thought of.  It has a wonderful, relaxed feel and the staff are so professional yet somehow manage to be friendly and laid-back - we didn't really want to leave!

EXQUISITELY HAND MADE INTRICATE AND ELABORATE BRIDAL ACCESSORIES

When her little sister got married, Clare Lloyd drew on her experience as a jewellery designer to create beautiful accessories and an everlasting button bouquet to match her sister's vintage wedding style.  From this grew Vintage Button Bridal Designs and Clare's business has grown from strength to strength in the last few years. 

Clare creates exquisite and intricate bridal accessories, from delicate hand embroidered and beaded head dresses to elaborate statement necklaces.  Every piece is designed and made with meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship using the finest materials to create beautiful heirlooms to be passed down through generations.

I was recently involved in a photo shoot with Clare and the hardest part of the shoot for me was narrowing down my choice of pieces to use.  Every piece is uniquely beautiful and I wanted to take them all!  Take a look at her Bridal Boutique page to give you some idea of how hard it was!

LE SOULIER - BEAUTIFUL SHOES TO WEAR & KEEP FOREVER

I'm very excited that Le Soulier will be exhibiting with us in Bristol!  Her shoes are literally a work of art to wear on your wedding day and have forever as a keepsake of your day.

I came across Le Soulier whilst scouring the web and wedding magazines looking for new and unusual suppliers who I felt would appeal to the brides who attend our fair. When I felt my heart beating a little faster I knew I'd found something really special.

Sonia, an innovative shoe designer who graduated from the University of Reading with a degree in Footwear Design and Construction, honed her skills designing for many well known high street brands.  Being such a creative soul she formed her own company 'Sole Creations' working with top designers, transforming their bridal collections.

Sonia's philosophy is to make wedding shoes that stand out from the crowd by adding personality and creating a style statement.  Her shoes are works of art that are totally personal to you. 

Dealing with clients all over the world, Sonia's service couldn't be more simple.  You buy your own shoes, ensuring a perfect, comfy fit.  Sonia can create hand painted designs on almost any surface (silk, leather, synthetic) with the exception of patent or gloss and, as long as there is enough surface area for your desired design, then any style, colour or heel height will work. 

You can email or call Sonia to discuss a colour scheme and overall look to complement your dress and flowers and you can post or email swatches and samples. Nothing is impossible create, from flowers, tartans & bows through to your married name and more, - the choice is endless.

Once you've both decided on the final unique look, Sonia does her magic and transforms your plain, dull shoes into your very own personal work of art.

KIRSTY CAUDELL - MAKE YOUR GROOM'S HEART FLUTTER LOOKING YOUR BEAUTIFUL BEST!

We're really excited to introduce you to Kirsty Caudell - Make-up Artist and her team who will be on hand to give you a vintage or bridal makeover on the day!

Kirsty's passionate about make-up, with a broad range of skills and a keen eye for detail.  She has experience of working with brides as well as studio and theatre work and her work was recently featured on the front cover of Cotswold Style magazine.

It's important to Kirsty to get to know who you are and she'll listen carefully to your ideas and preferences before she starts working with you so that she can visualise exactly what you need for the perfect outcome.  Take a look at her website for an idea of just how versatile she is!

Although Kirsty loves doing vintage make-up she also enjoys doing bridal make-up for a natural result that's the best version of yourself!  She can also give you make-up lessons if, like me, you've got a bit out of practise!
